3 Prompts To Leverage AI For More Efficient Video Marketing

AI knocks down the barriers to video marketing. Here are 3 prompts to make your production process more efficient.

AI is here. As business owners, we cannot ignore it, run from it, or deny it.

More importantly, we don’t want to – because, when used correctly, AI can save time while leveling up our marketing research.

Of course, there are ways to use AI in marketing, and there are ways not to use AI in marketing.

Asking it to generate video ideas or a marketing persona is an easy way to support your current marketing plan. Asking it to generate a marketing photo from scratch, and not noticing it added an extra finger until you’ve posted, is not the ideal way to use AI in marketing. At least not yet.

As many experts have explained, AI is best used as a tool to support your marketing team in meeting their goals more effectively and efficiently; it’s not typically recommended to replace the marketing team itself.

That being said, AI can make marketing much more manageable. Take video marketing, for example. It can help with the upfront research, as well as your plan to promote your video once it’s ready. But you still need a professional team to guide you through the process, help you feel confident on camera, set up the cameras and lighting, check the audio, and elicit an engaging performance. By bringing your AI-powered ideas to a professional production team, you’ve taken the video marketing process to the next level – and your content will show it.

To help you get started, here are three ways we recommend using AI to help generate supportive marketing ideas and documents, so you don’t have to start from square one when creating marketing videos.

3 Ways AI Makes Video Marketing More Efficient

Idea Generation

One of the hardest parts of getting started with video marketing is just knowing where to start. Sometimes we feel so overwhelmed by the process that we get stuck in analysis paralysis. Maybe there are too many ideas, and you just don’t know which one will make the strongest connection with your target audience. Other times, we’ve created so much content already that we feel creatively tapped out and unsure of where to go next. AI technology can help bring clarity to this process, while also generating new ideas and a fresh perspective.

Generating video ideas with AI can be as simple or as detailed of a process as you want. Start by prompting your chosen AI software with a question. For example, if you’re a med spa, you can ask: What are 10 topic ideas for an introductory branding video for a local med spa that provides anti-aging skin and body treatments? You can also ask it to speak to your target audience, highlight specific core values, or showcase certain services. If you’re new to AI, or you’re not having much success, try stealing this prompt:

Imagine you’re a [who’s creating the video] working in [business type], which [product or service offered], looking to create a [type] video. Your target audience is [describe your target audience] who are looking to [client’s goal/purpose] but [list critical pain points]. Create [number] video ideas in a table, addressing the pain points our target audience must be experiencing, then lead toward the root-cause reason they are experiencing this–[critical problems that your business solves]–and give a solution. In the last column, highlight viral hooks and emotional factors that could drive engagement.

Script Writing

Once you’ve got a nice selection of ideas from your AI-generated table, it’s time to pick the one you want to start with. You could make this decision based on upcoming marketing campaigns, website needs, or your customers’ most frequently asked questions. Once you’ve selected your topic, it’s time to write the script. Of course, not everyone does best with a fully generated script. Some people do better with bullet points or even speaking off the cuff. But a script can be a helpful starting point to add structure and direction. If you’re not exactly sure where to start, try following up your previous prompt with this one:

Create a script of an [desired video length] [type of video] video based on the [number of the video from the provided table] video idea you provided:

Title: [title of the provided video idea]

Description: [paste the descriptions from the pain point, root cause, and solution columns]

Viral Hook/Emotional Factor: [paste the viral hook/emotional factor]

Social Media Promotion

Once you’ve got a firm foundation of content that will streamline your production process, it’s time to share your content with purpose and strategy. While there are many ways to get your video out there – blogs, email newsletters, online courses and more – social media is a great place to start. The goal is to create a social media campaign that puts your video in front of the right audience, and then moves your audience to act with an effective call to action. With a little help from AI, you can create as simple or complex of a campaign as you’re comfortable managing. Here’s a prompt to get you started:

Design a social media advertising campaign for [brand name] that promotes the video from the script you provided above. First, specify the target audience and campaign goals. Then, in a table, suggest [number] social media post ideas that will promote this video. Include a range of different platforms and multiple post formats (e.g. reels, stories, lead generation ads, video ads) that can effectively reach the target audience. Include ideas for paid ads and organic ads. Suggest the copy for each post, using a tone of communication that resonates with the target audience. Provide examples of calls to action that can drive conversions. Suggest viral hooks that can make the campaign more shareable and increase ad engagement.
