Why Lindsay Celebrates Herself
At SchlickArt, we like to practice what we preach. And that means each April, for the month of Lindsay’s birthday, Lindsay chooses to celebrate herself.
In past years, she has focused on taking care of her physical health with a weight loss challenge that culminated in a gorgeous new dress and a glamour photo shoot.
Other years, she planned a full day outing with her closest friends – with no other intention than to let loose, have fun and celebrate the love that surrounded her.
Regardless of how she chooses to celebrate, each April Lindsay takes an intentional moment to ask herself what will make her feel good this year? And when she has her answer, she does not apologize. She does not scale back. She simply allows herself to celebrate.
Because we all deserve to celebrate who we are right now.
Why You Should, Too
When was the last time you celebrated yourself?
Not because you reached a professional milestone.
Not because you gave birth to another human.
Not because you achieved a financial goal.
When was the last time you celebrated yourself – simply because?
As women, we’re hard-wired to only show ourselves love when we accomplish something, when we do something for others, or when there’s a holiday dedicated to us. (And even then, we often forget to stop and savor the moment.)
Unless there’s a specific reason, we never actually take a moment to celebrate ourselves.
But we absolutely should.
Because loving yourself is not about waiting until a holiday to recognize your worth. You don’t need a reason or someone else’s permission to recognize your own beauty.
Loving yourself means you need no permission to celebrate who you are in this exact moment.
And that’s what Lindsay wants to remind everyone as her own birthday comes up this year.
Lindsay’s Birthday Wish This Year
“Celebrating myself, even in small ways each day, has brought me to such a great place,” Lindsay explained. “I’ve realized that we shouldn’t need a reason to cheer ourselves on. We shouldn’t need permission to put our own desires first. You deserve to celebrate yourself exactly as you are right now!”
That’s why, this month, in celebration of Lindsay’s birthday, she’s asking women to join her in celebrating themselves.
“Nothing makes me happier than that moment when a woman looks at a portrait of herself and suddenly sees how beautiful she truly is,” Lindsay explained. “If I can help create more of those moments for other women, that’s the best birthday gift of all.”
