Sometimes, boudoir feels like the dirty little secret of the photography world. Everyone wants in on it, but few are brave enough to ask. The truth is lost in the rumors, and it rarely ends up being what you expect.

So what can you expect from a boudoir photo shoot? Well, we can’t speak for other studios, but at SchlickArt, boudoir can be almost anything you want it to be. After all, if boudoir is anything, it’s all about you

And when it comes to the toughest questions about boudoir — do I have to get naked? — well, the answers are up to you, as well. So let’s dive into the questions you’re too afraid to ask about boudoir photo shoots, nudity, and baring it all for the camera.

Q: Do I Have To Get Naked?

Boudoir photo shoots, Santa Clarita boudoir, Santa Clarita boudoir photographer, Santa Clarita boudoir photography, Los Angeles boudoir, Los Angeles boudoir photographer, Los Angeles boudoir photography, Santa Clarita boudoir photo shoot, boudoir photos in Santa Clarita, best boudoir photographyA: The first rule of boudoir is the most important: You don’t have to do anything you’re not completely comfortable doing.

This is your shoot, and that means you decide how much you want to show, as well as the parts you prefer to keep hidden. If nudity isn’t your thing, then don’t do it simply because you think it’s what you’re “supposed” to do in boudoir.

Plus, implied nudity can be just as sexy as shedding it all. What’s implied nudity? It shows the moments right before you completely undress: a bra strap hanging off the shoulder, an unzipped pair of jeans, your favorite sweater and panties, his dress shirt. We’ve even had women do boudoir photo shoots in their workout clothes — because strength is sexy, too!

Q: Is Less Nudity Less Sexy?

Boudoir photo shoots, Santa Clarita boudoir, Santa Clarita boudoir photographer, Santa Clarita boudoir photography, Los Angeles boudoir, Los Angeles boudoir photographer, Los Angeles boudoir photography, Santa Clarita boudoir photo shoot, boudoir photos in Santa Clarita, best boudoir photographyA: A cocktail dress can make you feel just as sexy, or even sexier, than a bathing suit, right? Sometimes all you need is a good hair day to feel like you can take on the world.

Being sexy is not about how much skin you show. It’s about the confidence you wear underneath all those clothes.

Besides, bringing out the best of you is what makes boudoir photo shoots sexy — not the clothes! As long as you’re comfortable, you’ll be more than sexy enough, honey. Trust us.

We’ve had women who are happy to run around the studio in their birthday suits. It can be a very freeing and empowering experience, if that’s what you’re looking for, and we will always create a safe space for you.

Plus, Lindsay has photographed women with all different degrees of nudity in her boudoir photo shoots. She has the professional experience to capture you tastefully, while still turning up the sex-factor if that’s the style of shoot you’re looking for.

And we’ve had several women choose full nudity for at least one look, so you won’t be the only one!

Q: Is Too Much Nudity Not Classy?

Boudoir photo shoots, Santa Clarita boudoir, Santa Clarita boudoir photographer, Santa Clarita boudoir photography, Los Angeles boudoir, Los Angeles boudoir photographer, Los Angeles boudoir photography, Santa Clarita boudoir photo shoot, boudoir photos in Santa Clarita, best boudoir photographyA: Many women fall somewhere in the middle. They’re not going to run around in the nude all afternoon, but they do want to show enough to blow their partners’ minds.

Maybe you’re open to pushing the bounds of your comfort zone, but you also don’t want to come across as “trashy.” Well, first of all, when boudoir is done for the right reasons — meaning because you want to experience it —  it’s never trashy. You’re putting yourself out there as a way to express yourself and capture your beauty. That’s always classy, even if you happen to be topless.

Plus, at SchlickArt, boudoir photo shoots are designed to be an empowering experience that builds confidence and self-love — not a “take it off and say cheese” experience. We shoot everything with a very romantic, highly stylized signature look. We use natural light for a bright, airy, positive feeling that never comes across as “dirty.” And we coach you through the whole shoot, from posing to expression to wardrobe choices.

We’ve designed our boudoir photo shoots to feel like a luxury worthy of an incredible, classy woman. There’s no danger of feeling cheap at SchlickArt.

Q: What’s The Level Of Privacy On Set?

Boudoir photo shoots, Santa Clarita boudoir, Santa Clarita boudoir photographer, Santa Clarita boudoir photography, Los Angeles boudoir, Los Angeles boudoir photographer, Los Angeles boudoir photography, Santa Clarita boudoir photo shoot, boudoir photos in Santa Clarita, best boudoir photographyA: No matter how much you decide to show or not show, SchlickArt Studios is your sanctuary during a boudoir photo shoot. No boys allowed! You will have the studio completely to yourself, with no one but our Santa Clarita boudoir photographer, Lindsay Schlick. Even our hair and makeup artists leave the studio before we begin shooting.

In the studio, you’ll have your own private dressing room to get changed between outfits. There’s also a robe in the dressing room, so you can stay covered until you’re ready. And for the moment when you finally drop that robe, we have champagne!

Q: Will Anyone See My Photos?

A: Your privacy is our top concern. That means no one but the photographer and retoucher will see your images if you don’t want them to.

When we share boudoir images on our website or in our marketing, we have received the written permission of our clients beforehand.

Q: How Much Do You Edit The Photos?

A: Your editing and retouching tastes are going to be as unique as you are. For example, one client may not want much skin smoothing around the lines of her face, but she’ll want me to bring in her arms and stomach a touch. The next client may want us emphasize her bottom and get rid of her wrinkles.

That’s why, at SchlickArt, we go over your retouching preferences with you at the end of your shoot, so you can explain what you’re looking for.

We even do live retouching demonstrations in front of you, showing before and after photos, so you know exactly what to expect.

Just like your shoot, you are also in control of your retouching.

Q: How Do I Decide The Right Amount Of Nudity For Me?

A: The best thing to do when deciding on the level of nudity in boudoir photo shoots is simply to talk to your photographer. Tell her your concerns, fears and insecurities. She can help you sort through them and find the best solutions, so you walk away with an experience and shoot you love.

We’ve helped dozens of women go through this process, from beginning to end, and we can pretty much assure you that whatever you’re feeling, you’re not alone. Other women have shared those feelings before, and that’s why we can help you through it.

After all, all we want is to create a shoot that will look and feel even more amazing than you could possibly imagine! We’re on your team, and we’re here to help! The rest is up to you.

About Lindsay’s Boudoir Photo Shoots

With the mind of a businesswoman and the heart of an adventurer, Lindsay began to conceive of a different kind of Santa Clarita photography business. In her vision, stepping in front of the camera could be an empowering experience that gave her clients more than just a photograph — it would give people a new way of seeing themselves. With an eye for seeing the beauty in life and in others, Lindsay could use the camera to spread beauty.
