When Lindsay first started as a photographer, she photographed professional models, but she quickly realized she really wanted to shoot the regular, everyday woman – and show her how beautiful she truly is. So what did Lindsay do? She figured out how to teach people how to pose like models.
Today, her simple, easy-to-follow posing instruction makes you feel like you know what you’re doing, and even better – it makes you look it, too. Here’s how it works. One step at a time, she’ll show you exactly how to position each part of your body, starting with your feet and moving all the way up to the tilt of your chin. All you have to do is mirror each movement as she does it. It’s like a game of “Simon Says” that everyone wins. Because by the time you see your photos, you’ll be stunned at what a difference the right angles can make.
6. The Perfect Expression
Just like Lindsay has a system to build the perfect pose, she also has a system to elicit the perfect expression. Since Lindsay doesn’t use flash photography, she can shoot rapid-fire to capture multiple images in the span of a second or two. That way, she can capture the entire range of your expression when you smile – from the small smirk, all the way up to a full grin, and back to neutral again. And somewhere in that range is the perfect smile, the one that’s big enough to be genuine but also relaxed enough to not feel forced. Plus, she also has some fun sayings to elicit a real and genuine smile. (But if you want to see what that’s all about, you’ll have to join us in the studio.)
7. The Perfect Shot
Even after the shoot is finished, we continue to make things as easy as possible, especially when it comes to selecting your final images. We know that staring at a sheet of thumbnail-sized images can be daunting, confusing and not helpful. All the images start to blend together, and it’s hard to choose which ones you really love and need.
That’s why, at SchlickArt, we like to play a fun little game to help you narrow down your images to the perfect set. We’ll look at your entire set of images together, and guide you through a quick and painless process of elimination. We’ll look with the technical eye of a photographer, and you’ll look with an emotional eye for what feels most genuine – and together we make the perfect decision. The result is a set of images that will make you happy and be useful for your marketing goals.
8. Multiple Crops
Over time, the changes in marketing and technology have also changed business photography. Before social media became a marketing platform, the professional portrait was the standard type of photography you’d need most. But today, you really need that and more. For example, you also need a square-sized image for your social media profiles, and you might also need a close-up headshot for your social media graphics, website and other marketing materials.
We understand the need for various sizes of images, and we don’t want you to spend your time cropping and resizing images. That’s why, with each image you purchase, we include three different crops: a full-length image; a head-and-shoulders headshot; and a square headshot. With these three choices, you should be able to find the right size for whatever you’re creating.
9. Digital Delivery
Once you’ve selected your images, we get to work editing and retouching them to perfection. Of course, you always have the opportunity to request changes to your edit. We can add more retouching or pull it back, depending on your personal preferences. Our goal is to get them perfect for you, and once we’ve done that, we’ll email you a link to a digital file where you can download all your images in one place. We even store your images on file for up to a year, just in case you have any digital mishaps and lose your set of images.
