Wondering where to buy the best boudoir lingerie in Santa Clarita and beyond? Here’s our comprehensive guide to lingerie that makes you feel good.
Let’s be real – lingerie can be confusing, intimidating, and overwhelming.
On a good day, you’ll try on seven things only to walk away with one piece that you hope will look good when you lose five pounds and put on heels.
But lingerie should make you feel good.
That’s why we wanted to provide a comprehensive guide to finding the types of lingerie that fit and flatter you.
So grab a glass of wine, pull up a catalog, and let’s dive into the sexy world of boudoir lingerie.
Why Buy Lingerie?
One of the most important things to keep in mind, whenever you buy lingerie, is why you’re doing it.
Lingerie isn’t meant to make your boobs look bigger or your waist look smaller. It isn’t meant to hide insecurities or cover up “undesirable” parts of the body. (I mean it can absolutely help with some of those things – but that’s not the point.)
Lingerie is meant to make you feel good in your own skin. It should bring on that instantly sexy feeling that washes over you as the silk and lace brush across your skin.
It’s a piece of clothing that gives you a new way to experience yourself.
You buy lingerie because you want to treat yourself to a moment of feeling sexy in your own skin.
You buy lingerie to begin loving yourself just a little bit more.
And you don’t need another reason!
In fact, if you want to “try on” a boudoir experience, try buying yourself a piece of beautiful lingerie. Then pick out a nice bottle of wine or a cocktail, pick up a special meal, and spend the evening lounging in your beautiful new attire. You can read a book or watch a chick flick. Do something that makes you feel luxuriously sexy all evening long.
That’s why you buy lingerie. And that’s why you shoot boudoir.
Lingerie For The Camera
If you do decide to buy lingerie for a boudoir shoot, there are a few important things to remember. For example, if you’re buying lingerie to wear at home, you might want to focus on comfort. If you’re buying lingerie for the camera, however, you’ll want to consider a few simple rules to help you look and feel your best.
Bra & Panty Set
This is a beautiful classic piece, especially when it’s well-fitted and comfortable. We recommend bras without padding because, as you move around in different poses, the padding can cause you to spill out. (We’ve got other tricks for creating that perky lift.) We also recommend adding a garter belt if you feel particularly self-conscious about your mid-section.
Corsets create a dramatic, hourglass shape in the waist with a drawstring back that allows you to cinch it as tightly as desired. They’re great for curvy women who want to tighten and emphasize their waists, and they’re also great for women with straight bodies who want to create more of an hourglass shape. However, they can be a bit tough to move in when cinched up really tight.
Like corsets, bustiers are designed to create shape – they just don’t have the drawstrings. Instead, bustiers focus on the breasts rather than the waist. They can even act like a temporary breast lift, while providing more moderate shaping in the waist. When worn with more full-coverage panties, sometimes bustiers can squeeze the lower part of the tummy. Opt for low-waisted or skimpy panties with a bustier to avoid this problem.
A personal favorite of ours, bodysuits are flattering on most body types because they provide shaping throughout the entire natural S-curve of a woman’s body. Bodysuits pull you up and in, and many have extra support and shaping – such as ribbing, paneling, boning, wire, cups, padding or even drawstrings. Bonus tip: When worn with a bra, bodysuits transform your shape by providing lifting and shaping in all the right places.
Think of a slip as the softer, more angelic sister of the bodysuit. Like a bodysuit, it’s flattering on all body types because it gently hides, while bringing the best out of every shape. Slips, however, are generally more feminine, in lace or mesh fabrics; yet modern shapewear is also making slips that look more matte or luxe, which look great on camera. Alternatively, a slip with different colored side panels is extremely thinning.
Baby Doll or Teddy
While they look great in the bedroom, baby dolls and teddies are typically a bad choice for the camera. They hide the curves of your body, making your silhouette appear as wide as the shape of the lingerie. Regardless of your shape, they tend to make women look boxy on camera.

Not really a lingerie type of girl? Don’t worry! There are plenty of accessories and clothing pieces that are just as sexy as a lacy bodysuit – if not more! Check out this blog on boudoir outfits that aren’t lingerie.
Where To Buy Lingerie In Santa Clarita & Beyond
We get a lot of questions about where to buy boudoir lingerie. However, please keep in mind that buying properly fitted boudoir lingerie is much more important than the brand or store name. That being said, here are a few shops we love:
We have a love-hate relationship with this infamous lingerie icon, located at Westfield Valencia Town Center. So we’re going to break it down. If you have a proportionate/balanced frame and easily fit in standard store sizes, then it’s worth a visit. However, most of us aren’t standard, and we want to capture what makes your body stand out. That’s why we suggest getting a fitting at a boutique, or by someone who has been in the business for a while. That being said, it’s a great place to get to know lingerie if nothing else. If you’re not sure how different styles fit your perfectly unique body, then grab one of everything and try them all on, girl.
We highly recommend you start here. Run by the fabulous Lisa Szeto, Pinned Up is a lingerie boutique based in Ontario, Canada – but she can do virtual fittings from all around the world! She also sells all her product online, as well. Lisa is an expert in fit and sizing, so you can be confident that you’re wearing the right piece for your body. So if you don’t know where to start when it comes to boudoir lingerie, we definitely suggest seeing a professional who can help you learn what shapes, fabrics and classic pieces look the most flattering on you. Plus it’s just fun!
Ta Ta Towels are where comfort and sexiness meet. They help you stay fresh and dry while lounging around the house or getting ready for an event. And we have to say … the boys really love them! They accentuate a woman’s natural curves, while keeping you comfortable during a hot Santa Clarita summer. And what’s sexier than a woman who’s comfortable in her own skin?
Venus offers a wide range of looks without the intimidating shopping experience or startling price tag. Plus, they’re labeled well, so you know which type of lingerie you’re buying. With a mix of classic and modern looks, there’s something for everyone at Venus.
Lasenza is great for women who have some experience with lingerie and are looking for different or bold pieces to add some dimension to their wardrobe. There’s plenty of ultra-strappy bodysuits and intricate lace in this steamy store. The prices are reasonable, as well.
A Brit’s Victoria’s Secret, Ann Summers is inexpensive but totally awesome. The fit is true to size, and the fit will never let you down. It’s fantastic quality for the cost — and it always looks good on camera.
If you’re a lingerie addict, or an appreciator of the finest money can buy, Journelle just may capture your heart and your wallet. The pieces are high-end, designer, one-of-a-kind knockouts — and they have the price tag to prove it.
