Why Being Photogenic Is A Myth
Photography isn’t like looking into a mirror. It captures so much more. It captures your natural shape and the way your emotions light up your features. Even lighting and shadows play a role in how the camera picks up your angles and your movements.

In fact, at SchlickArt we have an entire system designed to do exactly that, from the moment you walk in the door until you receive your final retouched images.

1. Natural Light Photography
From the very beginning, natural light has been a key factor in the SchlickArt formula. Why? With its glowy white tones, natural light acts like nature’s best Instagram filter. It flatters flaws and forgives skin inconsistencies, all while illuminating your natural undertones.
Like our photography philosophy, natural light brings out the beautiful details that make you who you are, like eye color or the shape of your features, while diminishing the bits we don’t like, like skin pigmentation or dark circles.
In fact, every aspect of SchlickArt Studios is designed to optimize natural light in a way that makes skin look simply luscious. From reflective backdrop boards to sheer white curtains, every tool and prop is used to bounce light evenly and beautifully.
2. Expert Posing
When Lindsay first started as a photographer, she photographed professional models, but she quickly realized she really wanted to shoot the everyday woman – and show her how beautiful she truly is. So what did Lindsay do? She figured out how to teach people how to pose like models.
Today, her simple, easy-to-follow posing instruction makes you feel like you know what you’re doing, and even better – it makes you look like it, too.
Here’s how it works. One step at a time, she’ll show you exactly how to position each part of your body, starting with your feet and moving all the way up to the tilt of your chin. All you have to do is mirror each movement as she does it. It’s like a game of “Simon Says” that everyone wins. Because by the time you see your photos, you’ll be stunned at what a difference the right angles can make.
3. Genuine Expressions
Just like Lindsay has a system to build the perfect pose, she also has a system to elicit the perfect expression. After all, there’s nothing more uniquely beautiful than your real, true smile … or even a sincere little smirk. That’s why we believe genuine expression is so important.
Here’s how it works. Since Lindsay doesn’t use flash photography, she can shoot rapid-fire to capture multiple images in the span of a second or two. That way, she’s capturing the entire range of your smile – from the small smirk, all the way up to a full grin, and back to neutral again. And somewhere in that range is the perfect smile – the one that’s big enough to be genuine but also relaxed enough to not seem forced.

4. Professional Hair & Makeup
Once we’ve got the basics covered, we focus on helping you look and feel your very best when you step in front of the camera. For some, that means hair and makeup services.
But here’s the thing. Hair and makeup for the camera is different from hair and makeup for the naked eye.
