She’s confident in her ability to earn a living and maintain financial stability. Her family is out in the world, becoming the individuals she’s proud to have raised. She’s confident in her ability to love and be loved. She knows what she believes and what she doesn’t.
She’s hit a stride, where life is simply easier to navigate.
However, she also lives in a frustrating state of paradox — because the world refuses to see her for the graceful powerhouse she truly is. The world won’t acknowledge her very significant place in our families, workplaces and beauty ideals.
Inside, she feels like a quiet force. But outside, she feels invisible.
The Disheartening Study That Says Women 50+ Feel Invisible
Motivated by a desire to better understand women 50+, a women’s supplement company called A. Vogel conducted a study of 2,000 women over the age of 45 to gauge their feelings on aging, according to .
The results seem to capture a different side of the women we see in our studio:
- Just 15% of the women surveyed said they had a high level of confidence in any area of their lives.
- More than two-thirds of the women feel wholly ignored by men when they walk into a crowded room.
- More than half feel they’ve been “left on the shelf” and “judged negatively” because of their age.
- Six in 10 women feel like all marketing is geared toward young women, and 46 percent think no one understands or addresses what aging women go through.
- Graying hair, having to wear glasses and an inability to find fashionable clothing were cited as contributing factors to lack of confidence.
