Wondering what the SchlickArt team has been up to this year? Check out our favorite memories and milestones from 2022.
This year represented a much-awaited return to normalcy for many of us, and at SchlickArt, you know we like to hit the ground running. That meant 2022 brought lots of growth – personally and professionally – as well as lots of travel, togetherness and time spent with loved ones. We’re so grateful to be looking back on a fun and productive year, and we’re proud to say we made the most of 2022 … in business, in the community and at home.
Here are some of the milestones and memories that made 2022 worth celebrating.
A Year In Review: SchlickArt Celebrates 2022
SchlickArt: In Business
Overall, 2022 marked a year of growth for our team and our business. We felt incredibly grateful to celebrate 10 years in business this past March, especially after a turbulent couple of years. But it was all the more special to look back and celebrate a decade of steady and intentional growth as we worked to turn our dream into reality – and kept on growing.
As a business, we hit our targets thanks to our amazing clients, and our personal branding photography and video products lines really took off as everyone went back to business as usual. We also focused on growth as a team and as individuals this year, and we really enjoyed reading books together as part of our continuing education goals. (Stay tuned for a future blog to see what we loved most!) But one of our most rewarding growth experiences this year was a special Clifton StrengthsFinder Team Workshop hosted by Jenny Ketchepaw. We learned more about ourselves, as well as how to support each other as a team, and we’re already feeling more connected and in sync as we look ahead to next year!
In addition to our focus on growth as a business and team, we also celebrated some special professional wins as individuals. Lindsay won élite Magazine’s Ladies in Business Ultimate Photographer Award, and she was also nominated for the Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley Cheri Fleming Shining Star Legacy Award. Brian joined a new networking group, ProLeads, and launched a weekly video series that provides video marketing education for professionals in SCV and beyond. Sonja also expanded her network by spearheading the formation of a new local networking group called Ryze, which is dedicated to helping professionals support each other in the same way that a rising tide lifts all ships. Meanwhile, Kirsten kept everyone informed on the team’s progress by hitting 234 articles on the blog and keeping up with regular newsletters and educational content for clients.
Everyone on the team saw an increase in location shoots, as well. Lindsay and Brian traveled to Encinitas, Palm Springs, Newport Beach, Montecito, and more, while Sonja scouted new family photography locations at home, including the beautiful vistas at Skyline Ranch, Sand Canyon, Vasquez Rocks and more.
From our team to individual growth, this year has been everything we hoped it would be on the business front. That’s why we also made an intentional effort to give back to the community however we could this year.
SchlickArt: In the Community
From the very beginning, community involvement has always been one of our core values, both as a business and as people. While that looked a little different in past years, we were excited to return to in-person events as we volunteered our time and skills to support the incredible nonprofits that make this community so special.
Lindsay took on a couple special projects, starting with The SCV Purse Project, which was designed to support a community of 130 Afghan refugees who settled in the Santa Clarita Valley. Reaching out to friends and clients, Lindsay helped gather purses, toiletries and other personal care items to donate to the Afghan women to help make their transition easier and more comfortable. In addition to this special project, Lindsay also spoke as a panelist for the College of the Canyons Women’s Conference, sharing her experience during the “Leading as a Female Business Owner” breakout session.
Lindsay and Brian both kept up their leadership positions with the SCV Chamber of Commerce this year, as well, with Brian chairing the Small Business Council and Lindsay heading up InfluenceHer, formerly known as the Women’s Network. Lindsay also served another year on the Chamber’s Board of Directors and has enjoyed learning more about the organization’s programs and mission.
In addition to special projects and leadership positions, SchlickArt continues to fulfill its original volunteer commitment by photographing local nonprofit fundraising events, a promise they made in their first year and have kept close to their hearts ever since. This year, the team volunteered to photograph 13 nonprofit and civic events, and all of the photos are cataloged online and donated to the nonprofits to use for their promotional materials for years to come.
Whether it was through efforts to support local businesses, women or families, the SchlickArt team was incredibly grateful to play a role in supporting Santa Clarita’s nonprofits this year, especially when we could do so with the support of our clients and friends.
SchlickArt: At Home
While we love to work hard at SchlickArt, we also know how to play hard, and we definitely created some fantastic memories at home – and abroad – this year.
Lindsay and Brian kicked off their 2022 travels with a Virgin Cruise to the Caribbean that stopped in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas, and it was the perfect way to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary. In fact, they loved it so much that they returned to the Bahamas later that year with friends and family, and it was the first time Lindsay had seen her brother since the pandemic started. When they weren’t traveling, however, Lindsay was busy at home working toward her 100 Workouts Challenge, which she successfully completed just before the end of the year.
Sonja and her family also shared some special moments at home and abroad. At home, Sonja and Henry enjoyed watching their boys excel in baseball as Jayden joined a travel team, and they all formed new friendships with the families on both the kids’ teams. Taking their adventures abroad, Sonja and Henry went on a British Isles cruise that stopped in London, Dublin and Edinburgh, and they loved visiting new sights, trying new food and cherishing the time together.
Kirsten and her husband Perry enjoyed adventures at home and abroad – with their biggest adventure being the announcement that they’re expecting their first baby in 2023. Though they had moved out of Santa Clarita in 2021, this special news brought them back to the SCV, so they could be closer to family and friends when Baby Smith arrives. Before that, however, they snuck in one last trip abroad to visit Perry’s family in Scotland, where they were reunited with aunts, uncles and cousins Perry hadn’t seen in 20 years.
As we all look back on 2022, the SchlickArt team feels grateful to have found joy and fulfillment in the everyday memories, as well as the special milestones that made 2022 one for the books.
But most importantly, we want you to know we’re grateful for you. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your milestones and memories this year. It means the world to us, and we can’t wait to create more incredible moments with you in 2023.
Until next year!
