When was the last time you celebrated yourself? Not for your birthday. Not because you reached a relationship milestone. Not because you gave birth to another human.
When was the last time you celebrated yourself – simply because?
Especially as women, we’re wired to only show ourselves love when we accomplish something, when we do something for others, or when there’s a holiday dedicated to us.
Unless there’s a specific reason, we never actually take a moment to celebrate ourselves.
But we absolutely should.
Loving yourself is not about waiting until a holiday to recognize your worth. You don’t need a reason or someone else’s permission to recognize your own beauty.
Loving yourself means you need no permission to celebrate who you are in this exact moment.
And that’s what Lindsay wants to remind everyone as her own birthday comes up this year.

Learning To Celebrate Yourself
“One of the things this past year gave us was some time to focus on ourselves,” Lindsay explained. “We could slow down a little bit more, and when we did, I realized I had been putting my own needs aside for too long. So I decided it was the perfect time to focus on taking better care of me.”
At the start of 2021, Lindsay was looking for ways to focus on her own physical and mental wellness, and her friend Denise Lite and Vanessa Barron reached out to a bunch of friends on Facebook to start a fitness challenge called the Diet Bet. Lindsay seized the opportunity to join a community that would celebrate Lindsay and cheer her on as she focused on her health.
For three months, Lindsay made significant lifestyle changes that prioritized her physical and mental health. She ate healthy, took a hiatus from her occasional G&Ts, and exercised as often as she possibly could. By the time the challenge was finished, Lindsay had finished #13 out of about 75 people, lost 22 pounds and was feeling better than ever.
“At this point, I feel so clear-headed. I have so much energy. And most importantly, I feel good,” Lindsay said. “With every healthy meal or spin workout, I was celebrating myself in what felt like a small, simple way.”
You Don’t Need Permission
Even though Lindsay’s weight loss challenge was over, she didn’t want to stop the positive momentum she had spent three months building up to.
“Celebrating myself, even in small ways each day, has brought me to such a great place – it didn’t make sense to stop,” Lindsay explained. “And I realized that we shouldn’t need a reason to cheer ourselves on. We shouldn’t need permission to put our own needs first. You deserve to celebrate yourself exactly as you are right now.”
As Lindsay celebrates her birthday in April, that’s exactly what she wants to help other women remember, too.

This month, in celebration of Lindsay’s birthday, she’s asking women to join her in celebrating themselves.
“Nothing makes me happier than seeing that moment when a woman realizes how beautiful she is,” Lindsay explained. “If I can help create more of those moments for other women, that’s the best birthday gift of all.”
You don’t need a reason. You don’t need permission. You are worthy of being captured just as you are.
