10 Signs You Need Boudoir In Your Life

Kirsten QuinnBoudoir

If even one of these statements sounds too familiar, it’s time to consider a shoot with the best boudoir photographer in Santa Clarita.

1. You have a lingerie addiction.

You don’t need to explain anything to me. Girl, I get it — and I support you!

Every woman needs to feel like a woman. Whether you’re at home by yourself, out at an event, or just tired of cleaning up after other people’s messes all day, you deserve to feel like something more than the sum of your responsibilities.

Lingerie is beautiful and delicate and luxurious, and it brings those feelings into our lives when we wear it. If you’ve got a killer lingerie collection, it’s time to document it! ?

2. You love a good dirty little secret.

If you’ve been married for awhile, you know that those new and unpredictable feelings eventually start to take the backseat. It can sometimes feel like you know each other too well. While that’s one of the most beautiful things about marriage, I think couples tend to miss that other feeling on occasion, too.

Boudoir photography is a dirty little secret you two can share together. No one else needs to know about it. Even though you know everyone wants to. How’s that for new and unpredictable?

3. You’ve worn your hair up every day for a month.

I wear my hair up every single day. So I’m not knocking the hairstyle. But if you do wear your hair up a lot, then you’ve also felt that undeniable sexiness that washes over you when you finally wear it down. There’s a reason good hair days are good days: When you feel beautiful, the world looks beautiful.

Consider a boudoir shoot, and the photos that follow, to be your best hair day yet. Lindsay Schlick has perfected the art of making people feel comfortable in front of a camera, and by the time she’s done, you won’t just feel comfortable — you’ll feel DAMN SEXY. You’ll always be able to return to that feeling when you look at your photos.

4. You pick on your looks, while your friends roll their eyes and tell you to shut up.

Think about a project that was really important to you. You poured yourself into it and worked at it for a really long time. After a while, you got so close to it that you couldn’t see it properly anymore. So what do you do? Bring in someone else to take a look at it and give you a fresh perspective.

If you can’t look at yourself and see beauty, it’s time for someone else to show you. Boudoir is like a fresh perspective for your body image. We all waste so much time, energy and money trying to perfect what’s already perfect. It’s time to see the beauty that others envy. It’s time for a fresh perspective.

5. You’ve found your swagger.

Life happens in cycles, and every so often, you tap into a moment of swagger. Your exes start calling you again, but you’re totally over it. You’re killing it at work, while your home life is as beautiful as ever. The right people walk into your life at the right time. Opportunities find you, instead of the other way around. Even your bedhead is the slightly sexy kind.

If you’ve found your swagger, the world is telling you it’s time to capture it forever.

6. You haven’t been pampered since your senior prom.

This one is just totally unacceptable. You deserve to be treated every once in awhile — unless you hate looking gorgeous and having things done for you. Listen, I won’t go on about the importance of “me time” if you promise to treat yourself with a little luxury.

And there’s plenty of it at SchlickArt Studios — from champagne and chocolates to a director’s chair with your own personal hair and makeup stylist. It doesn’t get more luxurious than champagne kisses and French lace. So this flirty little afternoon will fill your pampering cup for a long time coming.

7. No one has ever told you how sexy you are.

Sex is a touchy subject. It makes most people uncomfortable. It even makes couples uncomfortable when they try to talk about their own sex life — to each other. You may be in a loving, healthy, happy relationship, but you still question whether you’re sexy to in your partner’s eyes. Hey, it’s a normal thing, and I think most people worry about it pretty often.

If no one has told you how you sexy you are — in a way that makes you feel it — then it’s time to see for yourself.

8. You refer to yourself as a “girl” — not a woman.

I’m talking to you, Millennial women, because I’ve been there myself. I’m at the end of my 20s, and for most of the last decade, I felt like a girl playing dress-up in a woman’s responsibilities. I was a fiance, but not a wife. I was a professional, but not a confident one. I was an adult, but not a capable one. I was a girl, but not a woman.

When I put on that lingerie and confronted any fears I had about my body, it made me feel strong, sexy and capable. It made me feel like a woman! And I gotta tell you, being a woman is way more powerful than being a girl.

9. You’re feeling 21 again.

This one is for the women out there with an affinity for self-sabotage or a streak of recklessness. (Hey, no judgement.) Sometimes, it’s just in the air. You feel the need for change. You want to do something shocking, or out of character — dangerous even. While I don’t condone actual danger or recklessness, sometimes it’s fun to shake things up.

Boudoir is a healthy way to doing something out of the norm, something different than your everyday to-do list and menial errands. It was especially fun for me because, as a shy and slightly prudish “girl,” it was pretty out of character. And that felt awesome.

10. Your inner goddess is MIA.

We all lose our way every once in awhile. We don’t feel like ourselves. Things that used to feel easy somehow feel harder. And the weight of the world gets heavier on our shoulders.

When the world gets you down, the only thing you can do is take action. In my experience, the actions that truly help are often the unexpected or surprising ones. If your inner goddess has gone out to lunch, try something different. Surprise yourself. She’ll come back around to see what’s up.

What Am I Forgetting?

You may have noticed that I didn’t include any husbands, boyfriends, exes or boy toys on this list. That’s for good reason. Read more here: Do It For The Right Reasons.

I also left off the “I just lost 15 pounds” reason for shooting boudoir. Now, don’t get me wrong — if you recently lost weight, I applaud your commitment to your health and happiness. Seriously. You go, girl! But if that’s your only reason for boudoir, then read this: 5 Reasons You’re Not Ready — And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves.
