We’ve got a BIG announcement — something that’s been 7 years in the making. Come see what’s happening at SchlickArt …
After 14 years with Princess Cruises, we are thrilled to announce Brian is now working full-time for SchlickArt, after moving on from the company where we met and started our lives together.
When we took our first professional jobs aboard a Princess Cruises ship — as a photographer and videographer — we had no idea that we would say goodbye to this wonderful company as married, thriving business owners over a decade later.
And it all started in Ketchikan, Alaska, where we first met during a cruise pitstop. Before too long, we were saying our vows on the open seas of Mexico and had our whole life ahead of us. When Brian got a promotion to work at the Princess Cruises headquarters in Santa Clarita, we started our new lives in sunny Santa Clarita. As Lindsay diversified her photography experience with various studio gigs in L.A., she also started to think about a different kind of photography business — a place where real women could experience the same caliber shoot as a professional model. And as Brian climbed the ladder at Princess, they began piecing together the beginnings of SchlickArt, which launched in March 2012.
While video has always been part of SchlickArt, through the Signature SchlickArt Experience, Brian began creating stand-alone video products in 2016. With a focus on local businesses, he told stories through video, as Lindsay did so with photography. And business kept growing. In fact, over the last 7 years, this community has shown us so much support that our tiny little apartment studio grew into a home studio in Valencia. Even more important than that, it allowed us to grow large enough to bring Brian home.
So, today, as we announce Brian as our full-time Head of Video, we want to express our deepest gratitude to some of our friends and colleagues, without whom, we wouldn’t be here.
John Vance, President of Vance Wealth, was one of the first people to open our eyes to the possibility of going full-time with SchlickArt. He has served as our financial planner, mentor and friend since year 3, showing us how to create the business and life we dreamed of.
Laura Troost, Founder of Troost CPA, has been with us since the beginning. We grew our businesses alongside each other, as she guided us through all the accounting and tax steps of starting, learning and thriving as an entrepreneur. We thank her for all the time she spent with us, cheering us on during the good moments and listening to our struggles during the tough ones.
Lisa Odom, Partner of Poole & Shaffery, LLP, is the most recent addition to the team of professionals who help us grow, she has been a great friend the past 4 years and she’s quickly become a pivotal part of it from a legal standpoint. She’s guided us through our transitions, and her expertise has been incredibly valuable.
Kirsten Quinn-Smith, Founder of WordSmith Content, has been one of the best investments we ever made. We’ve always firmly believed in hiring talent where we don’t possess the expertise ourselves, and Kirsten has been the ying to our yang, helping us put words to the visual stories we want to tell.
And finally, there’s you. The people who have supported us for 7 years as we planted our roots, shared our work, and built a home in Santa Clarita. Thank you for showing us love, referring us, trusting us, and championing us. We couldn’t have done this without you.
About SchlickArt Photography and Video
SchlickArt, a boutique photo and video studio in Santa Clarita, started in March 2012 with the simple idea that empowerment creates a kind of beauty and authenticity that shines through every camera lens. Built on a philosophy — rather than a product, service or person — SchlickArt has rapidly evolved, meeting professional portraiture, business photo and business video needs as diverse as the community we capture. It’s the desire to take care of you, the client, that drives us at SchlickArt.
